Wii Tennis Tips">Wii Sports is the game that ships with the Nintendo Wii Console. It's really a great collection of easy to learn games and you can have a lot of fun with your new Wii with them.

If you play them however, it can help to get some nice Wii Sports tips to have the edge over the opponent :) Basically their are 2 main things you have to master with Wii Tennis: firstly movement with the Wii Remote and secondly the timing when you have to hit.

Here are some beginner tips for wii sports (there is also a VIDEO on the bottom of this post):

Wii Sports Tips: Wii Tennis Tips

One of the most shown and most played games is the Wii Tennis game. You can play it solo agains the Nintendo console or you can play it with a partner, which is of course much more fun. Here are some Wii Tennis tips:

1. Power-Serve.

If you are serving, you can make a very fast "boom boom" first service by throwing the ball up (remote up) and then hitting it (remote forward) on the highest point (the apex). The service will be extremely fast and will often result in an ace or an immediate point.

2. Return.

If you are returning the service of the opponent, you have to time your swing very well in order to hit the ball properly. Otherwise you risk to not even hit the ball by swinging to early (most common) or to late. I found that it is better to swing later than sooner in order to hit the ball properly. Take your time and don't be too nervous here.

3. Fast Shot.

From the line you can hit a very fast shot if you move the Wii controller very fast and evenly in one line, which means no curve or "top-spin" move with the controller. The ball will then move flat over the net in high speed. It's a great way to shot a direct hit.

4. Topspin Shot.

This is the show where the ball comes in a curve. To do it, swing the remote forward from low to high and rotate with your hand a little forward. This enables you to go for sharper angles.

5. Backspin Shot.

Same as topspin but now rotate your wrist in the opposite, a little backwards. Once you can do this technique you may also use sidespin and fast backspin to strengthen this backspin effect.

6. Lob Shot.

Move the controller to the top, without too much forward movement, to imitate a lob movement.

7. Net Play.

That's often a bit difficult because it's hard to control the direction of the ball. Some say just swing and hit as fast as possible. But to really control the direction of the ball, i.e. shot into an empty edge, you have to time your hit carefully.

8. Hit Net on Purpose.

Hold the remote straight up and chop down quickly, if possible with wrist movement. If done right the ball will hit the net and then fall down behind it.

9. Avoid Mistakes: Proper Shot.

The most frequently seen mistake is to not hitting the ball with the proper shot. This means if you get the ball to the forehand, you must hit a forhand. If you do a backhand, the ball will most likely go out of bounce. So always try to do the correct movement for the position of the ball.

10. Avoid Mistakes: Proper Timing.

The second most seen mistake is wrong timing. Always only hit if the ball is right where your player is. This ensures the best possible shot.
